The Popular Party of Águilas bets for new formulas to attract to the municipality non-seasonal tourists with the purpose of that all the year there is tourist flow and with it, all the productive sectors benefit.

One of the proposals is the implementation of agrotourism focused on the local tomato farms in order to allow the visitor to experience first-hand how the product reaches the table, from planting to consumption.

The candidate for mayor of Águilas, Eva Reverte, explained that the non-seasonal tourist seeks to live experiences in their travels, "our municipality has a broad tourism offer, but we must go a step further and bet on other alternatives to include Águilas in the national tourist circuits and the agrotourism is a tool that, in addition, will benefit the farmers and the innkeepers ".

Participatory electoral program

Reverte, who has presented this proposal in an agricultural plantation together with the candidate for the Regional Assembly, Jesús Cano, has underlined that this initiative, like many others, has been integrated into the electoral program as a result of the previous meetings with the different groups of the locality, "the farmers transmitted to us the values ​​of the agrotourism and the benefits that it reports for all, so much for the exploitations as for the hospitality industry, reason why we have not hesitated in integrating it", has underlined the popular one.

Thus, as explained by the candidate for councilor, Francisco Navarro, will be organized visits to farms to know how to work on the farm, becoming able to participate actively in the work being done in order to publicize the characteristics of the aquiline agriculture and, finally, to acquire the product both in the exploitations as well as to be able to taste it in the restaurants of the locality.

Navarro has indicated that Águilas agriculture techniques make it efficient, productive and sustainable with the environment, which guarantees the high quality and food safety of consumers through techniques such as solarization, politicization with bumblebees, methods of prevention of plagues and biological fight so that to present these techniques promotes that the consumer values ​​the product in a different way.

However, the Reverte added that in addition, in tourism, a plan of tourism excellence will be developed in collaboration with the regional and central administration, initiatives to adapt the holiday apartments or quality tourist services will be favored and work will be carried out to improve the tourist and informative signage of the municipality.
