The mayor of Equality of the City of Águilas, Elena Casado, presented this morning the program of activities that, under the slogan "Love who you want and I know what you feel. Águilas wants you ...", will be held in the town on the occasion of the Day International Pride LGTBIQ.
The events, included in the Second Conference on Affective-Sexual Diversity and Gender Identity, will begin on Friday, April 28 at 10 am, with the painting of a bench with the rainbow flag in the Mari Collado master park;
a symbolic act, initiated last year when a bank was also painted with the trans flag, "with which it is intended to evidence in different parts of the town a hallmark of identity linked to diversity and equality."
In the afternoon, the House of Culture will host, at 6 pm, the children's play Los Cambiamundos, by Imagine Teatro, which aims to educate the youngest children in values.
After the children's performance will be held, at 7.30 pm, a talk colloquium, by the Chrysallis association, on the process of transgender people.
At 2030 hours, a performance of the batukada and the reading of the institutional manifesto to support the LGTB collective will take place at the City Hall.
The days will continue on Saturday 29 at 7:00 pm on the 7th field of the Sports Center where a match against homophobia will be played between the children of the UDAF and the AD Playas de Águilas.
During the press conference, the mayor has announced that the activities scheduled for the LGTBIQ Pride will be completed with a protest parade to be held in Águilas on August 17 and will be presented soon.
To conclude, Casado has assured that "this Government Team is very aware of the problems that this group still has.It is important to note that, although there has been a great advance, in recent times movements against these rights are emerging. We can not forget - he has continued saying - that, although the rights of the LGTBIQ collective are included in article 14 of the Constitution, it is necessary to continue fighting socially because visibility and awareness are still necessary ".
