The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the mayor of Social Services, María Dolores García, visited yesterday, together with the president of the Urci Occupational Center, Josefa López, to the children who are participating in the Respiro Familiar for the fifth consecutive year has launched the Government Team.
A project consisting of the opening of a summer school during the month of July aimed at children with disabilities.
"This project was born of the commitment acquired with the parents of these children who, during the summer, when their centers of origin close their doors need a playful and educational alternative that can respond to their needs," said the mayor.
It is a program that has a double objective.
On the one hand, encourage children to acquire the benefits that leisure brings, such as emotional well-being, the strengthening of interpersonal relationships and social inclusion, and, on the other hand, offering a respite for families who, in their most encounter enormous difficulties, when the schools of these children close, to reconcile work and family life.
The program has for its development perfectly trained caregivers for the performance of this work and includes, among other activities, excursions, trips to the beach and the pool and craft workshops and psychomotricity.
In addition, it should be noted that it has a nursing service that will be active during all the time in which the children stay in summer school.
