The City of Águilas has awarded the drafting of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS);
an action whose main objective is the proposal of a set of actions within the scope of the municipality, where priority is given to non-motorized forms of travel (walking, cycling, etc.) and facilitating, when possible, the use of collective transport
It is, in short, to develop actions that reduce the use of fossil fuels and polluting emissions.
All this making compatible economic growth, social cohesion, road safety and defense of the environment.
It should be noted that the Urban Mobility Plan will include a circulation plan and structure of the road network;
a parking plan;
a plan for improvements and transformation of urban public space;
a mobility management plan;
a public transport transformation plan;
a cycling mobility plan that will include cycling itineraries on boardwalks;
a road safety plan;
a plan of pedestrian itineraries that will allow the pedestrianization of different points of the locality;
or the strategy for the implementation of the Smart Mobility platform, among other measures.
The strategic document, therefore, will define the Sustainable Mobility model for the city and will propose actions to achieve a better quality of life for citizens.
The PMUS is framed in the sustainable and integrated urban development strategy Águilas Sostenible, 80% co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through the Multiannual Operational Program of Spain 2014-2020.
