The City of Águilas has already awarded the execution of the 30,000 square meter forest park whose irrigation will be carried out with purified water, carrying out the impulse and distribution of the same through photovoltaic energy.
An initiative, co-financed with funds from the Life Adaptate Project, to adapt to climate change, in which Águilas, together with the municipalities of Cartagena and Lorca, the Municipal Chambers of Mértola and Alfândega da Fé (Portugal) and the Municipality of Smiltene (Latvia) , is part.
This second phase of the project, which will begin imminently, will allow the creation of a large native green area that will represent some of the existing bioclimatic floors in the Region.
"The main objective of this pilot action is the adaptation at the local level in the face of climate change, in this case through an action that makes possible the generation of shade, the decrease in temperature and the conservation of humidity, to apply this experience later in other European areas, "explained the mayor, Mari Carmen Moreno.
Likewise, this forest park, which will also fulfill the function of educational pedagogical space, will have a bike lane and a network of roads and paths.
