Adif has tendered, for an amount of 1,633,195.61 euros (VAT included) and an execution period of 15 months, the contract for consulting services and technical assistance for the drafting of the project to adapt the platform for the implementation of the width standard (1,435 mm) in the Pulpí-Águilas section, located in the provinces of Almería and Murcia.
This section, 20.7 km long, with a single electrified track, is part of the C-2 Cercanías line that connects Murcia with Águilas.
The Murcia-Pulpí section is also included in this Cercanías line, which is included in the Murcia-Almería High Speed ​​Line (LAV), within the Mediterranean Corridor, so it is intended to unify the track width in both sections, of so that at the end of the works the entire C-2 line has the standard width implanted.
Global performance of section modernization
The tender contract is included in a global action for the modernization of the existing railway line, providing it with standard track width, 25 kV electrification, safety facilities and ERTMS communications.
Specifically, the purpose of this contract is the drafting of the construction project for the adaptation of the platform necessary to implement the standard width, as well as the adaptation of railway stations and beaches and suppression of level crossings in the corridor railway between the Pulpí station and the Aguilas station.
For this, the contract includes a preliminary analysis of the status of the existing platform in said section, its drainage works, trenches, embankments, tunnels, viaducts, crossings, gauges, etc., which will allow defining the necessary actions for the adaptation of the platform.
These actions are part of Adif's commitment to guarantee the full integration and permeability of the new railway infrastructures in the territories through which they run, as well as to increase safety for citizens and rail traffic.
