The representative of the First Person Committee of the Eagles Mental Health Association (AFEMAC), attended last September 13 in Madrid a training conference organized by the Confederation Mental Health Spain and funded by the Foundation "La Caixa", whose objective has been train people with mental health problems in order to acquire tools that allow them to recognize situations in which their rights are violated as well as to cope with the stigma that accompanies this group.
Those attending the conference participated in the workshop "Human Rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities".
A workshop created with the objective of guiding people with mental health problems to identify stigma and discrimination in 'usual' situations in order to take appropriate measures as well as recognize the rights of people with diverse abilities and key aspects related to the concept of citizenship, all in order to achieve the empowerment of people with mental health problems.
The Eagles Mental Health Association (AFEMAC) is a non-profit organization with more than 12 years of experience working for the normalization and integration of people with mental health problems.
