The mayor of Cemeteries and Health, Isabel Fernández and María Dolores García, have announced the intention of the City of Águilas to install a cemetery for pets in the town.

"We have begun the process for the opening of said space in Águilas and for this the first thing we have done has been to request the competent body, in this case the General Directorate of Agricultural, Livestock and Marine Environment Production, the regulations in said matter for assess the suitability of your installation, "said the councilors.

The objective of this initiative is to respond to the demand of many citizens who on different occasions have requested to have a space in which to remember their pets once they have died.

"We are aware of how important pets are for many of our neighbors and proof of this is the implementation of initiatives such as the beaches and canine parks that Águilas already has; now we take another step by starting the process to create in the town a cemetery for domestic animals, "said the mayor of Cemeteries.

From the City Council they have indicated that it is still too early to talk about specific dates since this type of action requires procedures that depend on different administrations.
