One more year the Eagles Mental Health Association (AFEMAC), has joined the celebration of World Mental Health Day on October 10 with the launch of numerous activities developed during this month.

As usual, the association held one more year of open days, attended by high school students of the IES of the town;

On this occasion, the informative talks were focused on suicide prevention, a theme chosen by the Confederation of Mental Health Spain for this year's campaign.

Under the motto "Connect with life", the association's psychologists spoke openly about the many myths about suicide and the importance of discussing the issue and ending the taboo and stigma that accompany this reality.

On the same day 10, AFEMAC associates moved to the San Juan de las Águilas castle to hang the booths for bats that they build in their facilities as part of a joint project with the Department of Environment of the City of Águilas and that has had a important media impact due to its novelty and effectiveness, specifically for its effectiveness against mosquito pests, including the famous tiger mosquito, an invasive species that is already a problem in our town and other areas of the region.

We report that this project has had an important media impact because both regional television (7 Region of Murcia) and national (TVE and Telecinco) have echoed the news.

In the afternoon in the Cultural Classroom of the Cajamurcia Foundation, the Manifesto for Mental Health was read and the second painting exhibition of Andrés “de la Rocheâ€� was inaugurated, a completely self-taught user who moved the audience with the expressiveness of his paintings and stressed the importance of expressing our emotions (in his case through painting) to enjoy good mental health.

From the Águilas Mental Health Association, we thank the presence of the mayor, Mª Carmen Moreno and other members of the municipal corporation for the support provided on this day for another year.
