The Casino de Águilas recently hosted a work day framed within the Life Adaptate Project and aimed at developing the Municipal Climate Change Adaptation Plan.
The act, which was attended by the mayor of the town, Mari Carmen Moreno, the mayor of Environmental Education, Ginés Desiderio Navarro, the mayor of Agriculture, Bartolo Hernández, representatives of political groups with municipal representation, technicians of the City Council and members of the local associative fabric, began with a brief presentation, by Francisco Victoria, technician of the Environmental Development and Climate Change Service of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, on risks and vulnerabilities to which our municipality is going to be subjected as a result of climate change.
Subsequently, it was the municipal environmental technician, Enrique Delgado, who was in charge of exposing the work done to date for the drafting of the Municipal Climate Change Adaptation Plan, as well as the proposed measures in order to offer all attendees the possibility of evaluate the suitability of them.
During the act, the first mayor of Aguileña highlighted the importance of the Life Adaptate Project, co-financed with Life Funds of the European Union, with which it is intended to increase the commitment of the municipality of Águilas with the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.
Among the specific objectives envisaged in the program are the development of a pilot action consisting in the creation of a irrigated recreational forest area with treated wastewater, as well as the drafting of the Municipal Climate Change Adaptation Plan;
an initiative in which the municipality of Águilas is a pioneer at the regional level.
