The mayor of Madrid Juan Andrés Torres has collected this morning the Green Igloo recognition of the Green Flags Movement campaign;
an Ecovidrio initiative that aims to recognize with that environmental award the 9 Spanish coastal municipalities most committed to the fight against climate change and coastal protection through the recycling of glass containers.
During the summer months, Ecovidrio worked closely with the teams of the different municipalities of municipalities in the province of Murcia and the more than 881 participating hoteliers.
Throughout the summer, the entity collected around 2,339 tons of glass containers in the 6 locations throughout the Region.
Águilas has managed to overcome the Ecovidrio challenge, which implies, in addition to the increase in the tons of glass collected, the participation of the municipality in the campaign and the hospitality sector of the municipality.
The mayor of Street Cleaning, Isabel Fernández, wanted to thank the citizens for their collaboration while highlighting that with gestures like this "Aguilas takes a step further in the fight against climate change".
