They recover and return to nature a real owl (19/12/2019)

The general director of the Natural Environment, Fulgencio Perona, attended today the release of a copy of eagle owl that has undergone treatment and rehabilitation at the Wildlife Recovery Center of the Autonomous Community after being located on December 12, hooked in a metal fence, in the municipality of Águilas.

It is an immature female, who presented a picture of dehydration and post-traumatic shock, as well as various wounds in claws, beak and wings, derived from the repeated attempts of the animal to escape the structure in which he was trapped.

After its recovery, it has been marked with a metal ring that will allow its monitoring and control in case the animal is recovered again in any other place or circumstance.

This will facilitate a greater knowledge of the movements and biology of this species, contributing in this way to the improvement of the conservation of this nocturnal raptor in our region.

This is the sixth specimen of this species recovered in the facilities of the Recovery Center 'El Valle' and returned back to its natural environment during 2019, which adds another 14 released during 2018. The eagle owl is classified as' Of interest special 'in the regional catalog of threatened species.

The Wildlife Recovery Center of the Autonomous Community is financed under the Operational Program FEDER Region of Murcia 2014-2020, within the project 'Monitoring service of the factors that affect the conservation and recovery of wildlife protected species wild in the natural network 2000 of the Region of Murcia '.
