The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, the mayor of Economic Development and Fisheries, José Manuel Gálvez and Bartolo Hernández, and the technician of Economic-Financial Management of the City of Águilas, Diego Mª Martínez, attended the closing of the course "Basic Training in Maritime Safety "which, for the first time, has been offered for free in Águilas.
It should be noted that so far the person who wanted to dedicate himself professionally to fishing had to make an economic outlay of 1,000 euros in training, something that has been solved thanks to the implementation of the aforementioned course and that of Fisherman Sailor who will start this same late.
Both courses are co-financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (FEMP), the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the General Directorate of Fisheries and framed in the Galpemur Local Action Group.
On this matter, the mayor said that "from the Government Team we are aware of the importance of the fishing sector in the locality and taking into account the need to launch actions to boost it, last May we requested, from the City Council, to the Local Action Group for Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Region of Murcia (Galpemur), grants that, included in the framework of the European Maritime and Fisheries Social Fund, are granted for this sector ".
