Eva Reverte Hernández, spokesman for the Popular Municipal Group in the City of Águilas presents the following MOTION to NAME A STREET WITH THE NAME OF JOSÉ MARÃA SÁNCHEZ-FORTÚN VALDÉS before the ordinary PLENO for February, for its study, debate and approval.
José María Sánchez-Fortún Valdés, left us in the summer of 2016, at 87 years of age.
Born in Águilas in 29, he worked from his childhood to help his family, something that marked his life, because if something defines him is his ability to fight and courage to always get ahead.
He was a spinner, and he combined his work with his training, because he already denoted his restless profile for wanting to know and learn.
Later the youth would make him a baker, a job that earned him to perform that profession in military service.
In the early 50's he met what would be his faithful life partner, Ana Sánchez Cervantes (Anita) and on a February morning he said yes, three years later.
With her he went in search of a better life and settled as immigrants in the modernist Barcelona of that time.
They returned to Águilas, where their two children were born, Domingo (El Sanchís) and María Dolores.
But again that life offered them the opportunity to fight for something better, and they left for Germany, where they struggled to work without respite and thus return again to Aguilas.
Here it all began, a life dedicated to “Sánchez-Fortún Confectionsâ€.
First in his own house and then in several locations on Castelar Street.
His entire life was dedicated to seeing his beloved Eagles grow and progress.
Starting with his Carnival, his passion for our party earned him as deserving of a “Golden Maskâ€.
He was president of Águilas CF (a sport he loved).
He belonged to the Board of Directors that reactivated the Casino de Águilas.
Councilor for the Popular Party from 1995 to 1999 (as an achievement of his step to highlight that he got the improvement in the situation of the Weekly Market and the eradication of street sales).
As well as president of the Municipal Center of the Third Age.
Without forgetting that José María Sánchez-Fortún Valdés, in his eagerness to see his land prosper and as a member of the Merchants' Union of Murcia, he created an association in Águilas, he always thought that together it was easier to get things done.
He was the founding president of what is now one of the most important associations in the town, the Association of Merchants and Industrialists of Águilas (ACIA).
For all of the above, the undersigned councilor submits the following proposal to the plenary:
MOTION
Nominate with the name of José María Sánchez-Fortún Valdés a street in the municipality of Águilas, because it is fair to recognize the tireless work to make Águilas a more prosperous municipality.
