The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, the mayor of Pesca, Bartolo Hernández, and the Economic-Financial Management technician, Diego María Martínez, delivered the diplomas of the Mariner Fisherman course yesterday, which, for the first time in the last ten years, it has been offered for free in our locality.
Aware of the importance of the fishing sector in the locality and taking into account the need to initiate actions to boost it, the City Council asked the Local Action Group for Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Region of Murcia (Galpemur) the aid that, included in the framework of the European Maritime and Fisheries Social Fund, are granted for this sector and have made possible the realization not only of this course but also that of Basic Safety Training;
which has meant an economic saving of the 1,000 euros that previously had to be disbursed by all the people who wanted to dedicate themselves professionally to fishing.
The Fisherman Sailor course, with a duration of thirty hours, is mandatory to be able to practice as a sailor, both on the machine and on the deck of a ship.
