The Plenary Session of the City Council of Águilas approved a motion last week to request the Regional Government to expand the offer of training cycles aimed at the hospitality and tourism sector in the public institutes of the municipality of Águilas;
a proposal by the Socialist mayor, Francis Gallego, which was subsequently agreed and presented jointly by PSOE, PP and VOX, and which had the vote against, only, the Councilor for Citizens.
"The Aguilean economy is mainly supported by two sectors: agriculture and tourism. The latter, the tourism sector, is expanding and diversifying its offer towards cultural, sports, environmental and gastronomic tourism aimed at making Águilas a regional tourist reference and national, with diversified offer for the whole year. This means that every time higher levels of qualification are required, with professional profiles that provide the local economy with the added value to continue competing in the regional and national context, "said Gallego .
Along the same lines, the mayor referred to the need "to respond to the demands of both Hosteáguilas and businessmen in the tourism sector who have been requesting, for years, this training offer to be able to count on qualified workers" .
Before concluding his speech, the Socialist mayor said that "for this Government Team the increase in the offer of training cycles aimed at the hospitality and tourism sector is a reality as demanded as necessary and proof of this is that this motion we approved today was delivered last week by the mayor of the town to the Director General of Educational Evaluation and Vocational Training during her visit to Águilas on the occasion of the Carnival parties.
