"As the mayor of Águilas, I have no competence in the regulation of commercial establishments, which is why I have already asked the regional and state administrations to reach an agreement. But, also, as the mayor of this municipality, I want to ask you, for humanity and sense It is common to take charge of the situation of the workers in your establishment, to think about the pressure with which they go to work every day and the fact that the opening of your establishment on a Sunday or a holiday, in the situation that we are, it may be a focus of attraction for residents of other localities, which would pose a greater risk to their workers and to the general population. "
These have been the words with which the Mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, has addressed the managers of the local food establishments in a letter sent to all of them this morning.
Moreno has sent this letter to all the establishments that opened their doors yesterday, requesting that, despite having authorization to do so, they reconsider and choose to keep their establishments closed during the decreed period of alarm;
something that- has assured the first mayor- "I am convinced that the citizens will appreciate when we overcome this dramatic situation that we are all experiencing".
Moreno has also been directed, in writing, to the managers and owners of the supermarkets who did choose to keep their stores closed to the public.
The mayor has thanked all of them for their decision, at the same time that they have requested that this procedure be maintained until the health crisis that we are currently experiencing is overcome.
