The mayor of Cemeteries, Isabel Fernández, has indicated that since yesterday and by ministerial order, funerals (including those that take place in private homes) are prohibited, as well as the attendance of more than three people at burials as a preventive measure against the spread by coronavirus.
In the same order, published yesterday in the BOE, it is established that during the state of alarm the prices for funeral services may not be increased and that, in addition, funeral companies must return the amount of services contracted and not provided.
"This is a measure that, we understand, further increases the hardness of losing a loved one, but, without a doubt, given the circumstances it is totally necessary," said the mayor, who wanted to convey "all the encouragement and necessary strength for these hard times "while appealing to the public to" respect confinement in any circumstance is already the only way to guarantee not only our health but also that of the people around us. "
In another order of things, the councilor of the area wanted to indicate that, despite the fact that the municipal cemetery remains closed to the public, "in it the cleaning and disinfection work is maintained in order to guarantee the safety of its workers In addition, during burials, the cemetery staff have the necessary self-protection measures such as full jumpsuit, gloves, masks and glasses. "
Finally, Fernández had a few words of thanks to the municipal gravediggers and the head of the Cemetery business for the "impeccable work they are doing despite the harsh situation we are going through."
