The Popular Party of Eagles has asked the socialist mayor, Mari Carmen Moreno, to expedite the payment to suppliers who have pending invoices with the City Council so that they can face the current economic tension with better guarantees.
The PP spokeswoman, Eva Reverte, explained that the council can streamline the payments recognized to suppliers as much as possible in order to cushion the impact on small businesses after the economic downturn.
"As we have shown, we will continue to act loyally and responsibly in order to cope with this crisis together," Reverte said, adding that, after the amendment of Law 7/1985 regulating the Bases of Regime Local, it is time to accelerate the convening of the collegiate bodies, which were suspended on March 18, by Mayor's Decree, to promote the procedure to make effective those payments that are pending.
"We are convinced that this demand to speed up the payment to suppliers will be able to be executed as soon as possible, since we are sure that it will be supported by all the municipal groups," stressed the spokesperson for the Popular Party.
Reverte has stressed that "in the exceptional circumstances we are going through, expediting these procedures would be an injection of liquidity for small companies and the self-employed to pay the payments that are theirs and that would help them to bear the impact of the crisis on their businesses."
