The mayor of Equality, Elena Casado, has shown her gratitude to the local pharmacies that have joined the Mask 19 initiative;
a tool to help potential victims of sexual assault or gender violence.
Once the pharmacy team has applied for the 19 Mask product, the team of pharmacies recognizes that they are dealing with a case of gender violence and proceeds to activate the necessary care resources by calling 016. For this call to be effective , in the pharmacy, they will ask the person who has requested the MASK19 to provide their name, address and telephone number, as far as possible.
Casado has stated that, unfortunately, "as indicated by sources from the Government Delegation against Gender Violence, during this confinement the situations of attacks against women are increasing. Thus," the mayor continued, "calls to 016 have increased by 10.52% in March 2020 compared to the same month the year before, which is why, now more than ever, citizen involvement and collaboration is essential to help women who may be locked up with their aggressor. "
Process
The woman victim or at risk of being one will go to the pharmacy and request "Mask 19", which will be the warning password of an episode or possibility of violence.
After recognizing this signal, the pharmacy will act as if it were a real order and will ask the woman to provide her name, address and telephone number.
To do it with the greatest possible discretion, a paper can be provided so that she can write down her information herself.
Next, and with discretion, the pharmacy will call 016 and report an episode "Mask 19", indicating the woman's data, thus activating the care protocol that is required in each case and from where it will be properly guided on the following steps to take.
