The owner of the fishing boat that was transferring him and the diver have been denounced to the Law of Maritime Fishing and Aquaculture of the Region of Murcia.
The latter, in addition, has been denounced for skipping the confinement decreed in the state of alarm by the Government of Spain. The performance began when civil guards from the Civil Guard Group of Specialists in Underwater Activities (GEAS) were on the trail of an experienced diver dedicated to poaching. The agents focused the investigations on the maritime strip of the municipality of Águilas, where they established a series of surveillance until detecting the presence of a fishing boat that was returning to the port of the municipality of Aguila. Civil guards identified its crew and examined the ship's cavities, finding a series of spearfishing gear in the bow locker, as well as a plastic bucket with 16 kilos of octopus. The agents verified that it was illegal catches, so that both the diver and the owner of the fishing boat used for such practices were reported to the Law of Maritime Fishing and Aquaculture of the Region of Murcia. According to the investigation, despite the state of alarm decreed by the Government of Spain, to face the Covid-19 health crisis, he took advantage of this circumstance to enroll in a fishing boat that was leaving to fish, to carry out his illegal activity, for which it has been proposed for sanction for skipping confinement. He bragged about his captures on social media This is a veteran poacher who has even released videos, on his own social network profiles, in which he appears boasting of his octopus catches. The Civil Guard has completed the investigation with the seizure of 16 kilos of octopus, which, after its health analysis, have been handed over to the charity. A diving suit, a lead belt, two diving masks, two spearguns and a diver's knife have also been seized.
