The Mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, has shown her surprise when she learned of the intention of the Regional Government to transfer the regulation of agricultural burning to the City Councils; something that - in Moreno's opinion- "is unfeasible given that, as the Regional Government well knows, the City Councils lack the competencies in Plant Health necessary to carry out this regulation." Likewise, Moreno has insisted that the solution to end the problem of agricultural burning necessarily involves the creation of a composting plant in Águilas that also allows for the revaluation of such waste; a project that - Moreno has lamented - has been stuck in the regional administration for more than a year.
"If they really want to give a solution to this serious problem, what they should do is authorize once and for all the construction of the aforementioned plant to the group of businessmen from Aguilar who have been working on this project for two years, with the full support of the City Council and the Council Local Agrario "- the mayor has concluded. function { ;(, , {});}
