The Águilas City Council plenary session approved, with the votes in favor of the PSOE, PP and Citizens and the abstention of VOX, the Action Plan for Climate and Sustainable Energy of the municipality of Águilas; a document, co-financed by the European Life Fund and included in the Life Adaptate project, which has been prepared, indicated the mayor of Environmental Education, Ginés Desiderio Navarro Aragoneses- "with the voluntary adherence to the European initiative Covenant of mayors for climate and the energy involved in adopting the commitments established with the European Union that integrate, under a single framework, mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
and Portugal, meant reaffirming the commitment to develop our PACES,as part of a methodology that aims to act on urban areas, which are exposed to the consequences of climate change.
" The PACES, approved this week, includes 35 measures, 20 of them related to adaptation and the remaining 15 to mitigation, pending a future expansion of them to include the one corresponding to the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. The sectors on which to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions are municipal buildings, equipment and facilities, residential buildings, the tertiary sector, mobility (transport) and external public lighting. Similarly, the adaptation plan includes adaptation measures in sectors such as buildings, mobility and transport, waste, planning and land use, the environment and biodiversity, water, civil protection and emergencies, agriculture and forestry, education and tourism. Finally, it should be pointed out - Navarro concluded - that "the participation of representatives of the different social sectors has been decisive in the elaboration of the PACES of the municipality of Águilas.
Their participation in the workshops carried out has been essential when planning and selecting the measures more suitable for a satisfactory adaptation of the municipality to climate change, as well as for the selection of those aimed at improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions from the municipality ".
