| Although the official decision will be made next September, the City Council, the Federation and supporters clubs find it very difficult to celebrate the 2021 Carnival | The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, the mayor of Carnival, Cristóbal Casado, and the president of the Federation of Peñas, José Alonso, met this afternoon with the presidents of the Carnival clubs to address issues related to the Carnival party , according to municipal sources in a statement.After the meeting, in which all those present have agreed to point out the difficulty of celebrating the party given its characteristics, Casado has announced that a new meeting will be held in the second half of September and that will be when a final decision is made . In this sense, the mayor explained that "it will be a joint and consensual decision"; However, Casado has insisted that "it is almost impossible that the next Carnival can be celebrated and everything points to a more than possible cancellation". The mayor stated that "given the current situation we are going through caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot rule out any scenario and we must be aware that safety and the guarantee of sanitary measures must take precedence over any other criteria"
