| So far he has been attributed the alleged responsibility of six crimes of fire damage | Presumably, after starting the fire, he alerted of it and remained in place to help suffocate it La Benemérita has had the collaboration of the Local Police and the Águilas Fire Department The Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the 'Locagero' operation, has identified, located and detained the alleged perpetrator of a series of fires committed against vehicles and homes in various urbanizations in Águilas. The Benemérita Citizen Security Prevention officers opened the operation last July to investigate a series of fires that were taking place in various parts of the municipality of Aguileño, in vehicles parked on public roads and in homes, events that had generated also a certain social alarm among the neighbors. The first of the investigated events took place on July 9, when a fire of great virulence began in the hedges of the garden of a house located in an urbanization of the municipality.
The fire affected approximately five meters of hedge and a large cypress belonging to the house next to where the flames originated. The fire was so intense that the flames reached about four meters high and partially affected the adjacent telephone service wiring. The rapid reaction of the Local Police of Águilas made it possible to minimize the advance of the flames and prevent them from spreading to the adjoining houses.
The fire was finally put out by the firefighters of the Consorcio de Extinción de Fires y Salvamento (CEIS) of the Murcia Region. The next day, a few meters from the first event, a fire broke out in a recently acquired vehicle that had been parked on the public highway a few minutes earlier by its owner. On this occasion, despite the rapid action of the police and fire fighting forces in the place, it was not possible to prevent the vehicle from being caught on fire and being completely burned. Shortly after, several vehicles appeared with burnt cardboard next to their wheels and even some of them with partially burned tires, although in these cases they did not start or cause serious damage to the vehicles. Citizen collaboration has been crucial As a result of the investigation and information provided by the Local Police and the Águilas Fire Department, as well as thanks to citizen collaboration, the Civil Guard established a fence over the possible perpetrator of the events: a young man, a resident of the town, who it alerted residents to the start of fires and even actively participated in their extinction. This link between each of the fires led to a follow-up on the suspect, which made it possible to verify that he was allegedly behind the responsibility of the criminal acts investigated. Once all the necessary evidence had been obtained, the Civil Guard established a search device on the suspect that has culminated in his location and arrest as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of fire damage. The exhaustive analysis of the information obtained during the investigation has allowed the Civil Guard to attribute the alleged responsibility of at least six criminal acts to the arrested person, not ruling out his participation in more crimes of this type. The 25-year-old Spanish detainee from Águilas, along with the proceedings, has been placed at the disposal of the Investigating Court of Lorca (Murcia).
