The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the mayor of Culture, Maido Simó, visited last week the excavation works of the Research and Enhancement Project of the Isla del Fraile; an initiative of the Area of ??Archeology of the University of Murcia directed by professor Alejandro Quevedo and archaeologist Juan de Dios Hernández and with the collaboration of the Águilas City Council and the Archaeological Museum of the town. After the completion of the first phase of this project, the municipal archaeologist assured that the findings have exceeded all expectations, highlighting the importance of this site, unique in the Southeast of the peninsula.
