The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, the mayor of Fisheries, Bartolo Hernández, and the representatives of the Fishermen's Guilds of the Region, among them that of Águilas, held a meeting this week, by videoconference, with the Secretary of State for Fishing, Alicia Villauriz.
At the meeting, held at the request of the first mayor from Aguileña, the Brotherhoods conveyed to Villauriz their concern about the entry into force of the European Regulation that reduces fishing days for trawlers. On this matter, the Secretary of State warned that it is a European regulation and, therefore, mandatory that will serve to guarantee the survival of the sector in the long term.
Despite this, the secretary expressed her commitment "to study the possible modification of some aspects, especially those related to shrimp fishing." In the same way, the Secretary of State made herself available to all the Confraternities of the Region to treat individually all those aspects that they consider necessary.
