The Mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno and the Delegate Councilor for Cemeteries, Cristóbal Casado, witnessed this morning the placement of the monolith in tribute to all the victims who have died since the beginning of the pandemic in our municipality, which from today will preside over the new municipal cemetery.The aquiline sculptor Mario Fernández has been the author of the work commissioned by the aquiline council.
The monolith, made of marble, is made up of a square base on which three intertwined hands rest, measuring three meters wide and three and a half meters high.“To the souls who did not have the shelter of the last hug, nor the warmth of the close hand that reminded them that they were not alone.
We don't want you to fly alone.
May our encouragement push your wings and accompany our eternal rest ”is the legend of the tribute plaque.The mayor showed her amazement and emotion upon seeing the work and has personally congratulated its author.
