The mayor of Environmental Education, Gin s Desiderio Navarro, has released the results figures for the first four months of the project "Give life to your waste" in which they have delivered - Navarro pointed out - "more than a thousand tree seedlings, thus exceeding the annual forecast of this amount.
" The species that have been delivered the most, to those who deposited special waste in the Clean Point located next to the Industrial Estate, have been Carrasco Pine (Pinus halepensis), Stone Pine (Pinus pinea) and Algarrobo (Ceratonia siliqua).
To these more than 1000 trees, we must add the thousand that were recently delivered to STV, from the municipal nursery that is maintained together with the CO "Urci", and which are intended to increase the tree mass of spaces green throughout the municipality.
The project "Give life to your waste" has been developed by the Council with the double objective of curbing desertification and helping to reduce illegal landfills.
Two serious environmental problems that exist in our municipality.
The mechanics of the project - explained the mayor - is very simple: "every citizen who takes waste to the Clean Point of the City Council of Aguilas may take, free of charge, native forest trees (Aleppo pine, stone pine, elm trees , carob trees, fig trees, etc.) for their repopulation ".
