Given the success of the Jazz Encounter that was held last year at the Casino, the Department of Culture and Celebrations of the City Council, in collaboration with the Asociación Amigos de la Cultura de Águilas and with the sponsorship of Estrella de Levante, has organized for the 6th and 7th of August, at 10pm, in the Plaza Antonio Cortijos, the I Festival Águilas Jazz.
The first night will perform Randy Greer and the Cole Diggers; and the second, the Swing Machine Orchestra, made up of 13 musicians, will offer, in the words of Domingo López, president of the Association, "a very carefree, very lively, very happy show that is sure to be a success.
This Festival it could be the germ of a more ambitious project, like a Jazz Week ".
It is a different bet, which from the Department of Celebrations they see with enthusiasm.
"This year we wanted to introduce new features within the summer shows and one of them is this Jazz Festival, since we wanted to add cultural events to the festivities within the Plaza Antonio Cortijos itself," commented the mayor of Festejos, Cristóbal Married.
Along the same lines, the mayor of Culture, Maido Simó, added that "Culture has to reach all audiences and it has to be located in all possible spaces".
Tickets are already on sale at the Archaeological Museum for the popular price of 10 euros.
