In yesterday morning, a tragic car accident killed five workers charged humble and left three others wounded.
They were traveling in a van heading from the Campo de Cartagena Aguilas to take his job in a plantation of celery.
From the local branch of the Communist Party in Aguilas they express their deepest sympathy for these irreparable losses and heartfelt solidarity with the families of the victims, humble people who would make a living.
This tragic accident highlights once again the harsh working conditions in the agricultural sector.
Relatives of the deceased accused the "exhaustion" as the main cause of the accident, because they ensure that "workers and rise at dawn to dusk days make."
"It is bleeding," the PCE in Aguilas, "that in the 2016 persist own working conditions of the nineteenth century, where laborers work from dawn to dusk in exchange for a salary that often does not even reach 25 euros a day".
"The labor exploitation in agriculture, unfortunately, still a reality," said Oscar Perez, a spokesman for the aquiline Communists.
To combat this situation proposes an increase in labor inspections to ensure compliance with collective agreements and calls on the agricultural workers to organize to defend their rights and fight for higher wages and better working conditions.
