On Wednesday August 10, United Left-Greens Eagles organized a gathering focused on the current situation of the Sahara, a region of North Africa happened in 1975 Spanish colonial rule the Moroccan colonial rule.
Since then, they fighting organized in the Saharawi Polisario Front for the freedom of their land.
The event was attended Sahrawi activists who told firsthand what life of its people.
Held in the refugee camp in Tindouf (in Algeria), over 200,000 Sahrawi struggle to survive in very adverse weather and humanitarian conditions where access to medicines, clothes or food is restricted.
Despite their plight, the Saharawi people with dignity held high the banner of a just cause, their self-determination.
Since 1991 the UN mediate between the Sahrawi representatives and Morocco, the Polisario Front is calling for a referendum through which the people freely decide whether to live as a region over Morocco or, on the contrary, chooses to govern well same in the territory that legitimately belongs.
The coordinator of IU-Green Eagles, Pedro Hernandez, has expressed the commitment of his organization with the Saharawi cause.
He states that "Spain has a historical debt to the neighboring town of Sahara to deliver our government lands to the king of Morocco against their interests."
