Today, 23 September, is the International Day Against Sexual Exploitation and Trafficking in Women and Children.
For that reason, this morning the mayor of the town, Mari Carmen Moreno, has read a manifesto at the door of the City of Eagles.
This day was established by the World Conference of the Coalition Against Trafficking in coordination with the Women's Conference held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, in January 1999. It was a September 23, in 1913 in Argentina, when the first legal norm in the world against child prostitution was enacted.
Human trafficking is a crime of transnational and national organized crime that affects mostly children and women, so it is necessary and urgent for States to coordinate and articulate international, national and regional efforts by creating measures and mechanisms regulatory and institutional effective to prevent, punish and protect victims.
Human trafficking is also known as the slavery of the XXI Century.
