The Hall of Acts of the House of Culture hosted this weekend the act of appointment of Favorite Son of Eagles Pedro Costa Morata;
A distinction with which the Ayuntamiento de Águilas recognizes the trajectory in defense of the environment of which he is one of the founders of the ecologist movement in Spain.
During the ceremony, in which Costa was accompanied by many friends and family, all agreed to thank the aquiline his fight against the nuclear power station projected in the 1970s in the Cope Marina.
"Regardless of the political color there is a reality and it is that Pedro Costa fought and avoided the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Marina de Cope, a fact that if it had occurred would have changed and much the reality that we live today. We believe that Aguilas was in debt to Costa and that is why we consider it worthy of this recognition, "said the first aquiline mayor, Mari Carmen Moreno.
The proposal for his appointment started from a popular initiative and was approved in the Plenary of the month of February with the votes in favor of PSOE, IU and Águilas Can and the vote against the PP.
