The mayor of Social Services of the City of Aguilas, Rosalía Casado, together with the president of the Occupational Center Urci, Josefa López, and the head of the project, Silvia Romero, presented yesterday the new edition of the Family Respite Program that for the third consecutive year has put The Government Team.
A project consisting of the opening of a summer school during the month of July aimed at children with intellectual disabilities.
"This project was born of the commitment made with the parents of these children who during the summer, when their centers of origin close their doors, need a playful and educational alternative that can respond to their needs," said Casado.
For the mayor the objective of this program is twofold;
"On the one hand foster among children the acquisition of the benefits that leisure reports, such as emotional well-being, the enhancement of interpersonal relationships and social inclusion and, on the other hand, offer a respite for families who in their Most find great difficulties, when the schools of these children close, to reconcile work and family life.
The mayor of Social Services was very satisfied with the implementation of a project that, he assured, "was a great success last year thanks to the collaboration of the Urci Occupational Center, its staff and the specialists who took it to cape".
The program, which will benefit 13 children and whose caregivers are perfectly trained to perform this work, includes, among other activities, trips to the Civil Protection Center where children will enjoy a display of rescue dogs;
Trips to the beach and pool with the help of Red Cross staff;
Excursions in the Don Pancho boat and crafts and psychomotricity workshops.
In addition, it should be noted that it has a nursing service that will be active throughout the time the children stay in summer school.
