The City Council applies phytosanitary treatments to more than 35,000 shrubs in the municipality (05/10/2017)

The numerous green areas that the municipality of Águilas counts on require constant and regular care and maintenance.

Therefore, from the concessionaire company STV are carrying out numerous phytosanitary treatments in the different species of the municipality.

Work is being carried out, gradually at night and early in the morning, including treatments for all plants of the same species likely to be affected by 'cochineal', 'Asian philla', aphid, fly white or red spider.

Specifically, within an annual order and planning, treatments are being applied in more than 4000 meters of hedge and 35000 units of shrub.

It is, in short, to progressively try and review all the units of plants of the same species in the areas of Águilas in which they work.

Treatments that are carried out complying with current environmental regulations and do not imply any risk to the health of citizens.

In particular, special attention will be paid to ficus 'hibiscus' and 'cycas revolutas' which are the species most affected by 'cochineal' and 'Asian philla'.

Actions that are carried out by a team of two people perfectly prepared for these tasks and which are complemented with the phytosanitary treatment that is also carried out on the aphid, the white fly and the red spider.

In this way, the possible presence of potentially harmful mites and insects is adequately treated.

The City Council is committed to the conservation and maintenance of the flora and fauna of all its green areas, thus complying with environmental regulations and always ensuring the health of its citizens.
