The balcony of the City Hall of Eagles now has a large pink ribbon as a symbol of the fight against breast cancer.
It was made two years ago by the women of the group "Mucho por Vivir", and has been placed for the third consecutive year by the mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, and by the president of the AECC, Magdalena Ros, who have been accompanied by a large number of members of the AECC municipal and women's corporation.
This symbolic act is part of the activities scheduled for the World Breast Cancer Day, held on Thursday, October 19th.
The mayor, Mari Carmen Moreno, stressed the importance of "women go to get mammograms, in order to detect the disease at a stage where it can be treated properly for a prompt recovery."
Every year on October 19 Breast Cancer Day is celebrated as a reminder of society's commitment to the fight against breast cancer.
Raising the awareness of women about the importance of knowing the techniques of breast self-examination, regular check-ups and mammograms are fundamental to being able to detect it in time.
Early diagnosis is vital because it depends on the possibilities of cure, which can be 100% if detected early.
