The mayor of Aguilas, Mari Carmen Moreno;
the Minister of Employment, Universities and Enterprise, Juan Hernández;
the rector of the Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena, Alejandro Diaz;
and the director of the Institute of Plant Technology of the UPCT, Marcos Egea, were in charge of inaugurating this morning the 1st National Tomato and Horticultural Conference that until tomorrow are held in the town.
During the opening ceremony, the mayor of Águilas stressed that "talking about agriculture in Águilas is talking about a fundamental pillar of the local economy, as well as leading farms in innovation and good practices. During two days, scientific days will be combined with technical visits to farms in the area and, in parallel, commercial exhibitions will be developed, with all the main authorities in the scientific and technical field of agriculture dealing with aspects such as biotechnology , crop production, crop protection, processing and genetics of the product or new technologies applied to crops.
