"The fight against social exclusion, the generation of quality employment, the promotion of effective equality of men and women and the preservation of the environment, are some of the actions that are expected of any public administration."
With these words the mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, began his speech at the Conference on Good Practices in the Incorporation of Social Clauses in Public Procurement in which the municipality of Águilas was one of the speakers for its clear commitment to CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility).
The first mayor, who was accompanied by Senator Juan Luis Soto;

the mayor of Puerto Lumbreras, Mª Ángeles Túnez;
and the president of CERMI, Pedro López;
He assured that "the key to betting on CSR, in simple theory, is not to award the contests to the most advantageous economic offer, but to which - besides being competitive - it respects more standards referring to ethical, social and environmental clauses".
In this regard, Moreno referred to the inclusion of environmental clauses as well as the incorporation of people with disabilities in their workplaces in the awarding of public services that are provided to citizens, such as the Garden Service or Street Cleaning and selective collection.
The mayor also spoke of the Social Bonus for families at risk of social exclusion set in motion by the City Council and the company awarded the water, as well as the agreement signed with Mapfre, whereby people with mental illness, users of the AFEMAC Day Center , carry out internships in different departments of the City Council.
Continuing with the examples of Corporate Social Responsibility in the City of Águilas, the mayor did not overlook the "agreement with Cáritas for people at risk of social exclusion, through which our Municipal Social Services Center, together with Cáritas Águilas, selects people at risk of social exclusion to carry out certain jobs for the municipality, in addition to receiving training by the City Council and Cáritas Quarterly contracts, extendable to six months if certain pre-established objectives are met Through this agreement the City Council also opens, a summer school with a school cafeteria during the summer months for children of families at risk of social exclusion ".
Finally the mayor said that "we are currently working with a special employment center, which will allow us to start next year we can hire people with disabilities in the City of Águilas, to perform certain jobs."
