The spokesperson of the Municipal People's Group, Isabel Soler, explains that they have registered this motion in order to obtain, from the different municipal political groups, the support to keep the Penal Code in permanent reviewable prison as it is currently regulated.
Isabel Soler, recalls that the reviewable permanent prison sentence was introduced in the new Criminal Code with the aim of preventing the most dangerous criminals who have not demonstrated the ability to reintegrate into society to endanger the safety of people.
Isabel Soler adds that this figure is not equivalent to the perpetual punishment because the reintegration of the prisoner is not renounced, since once a minimum part of the sentence has been served, the Court will be able to review his personal situation.
Isabel Soler recalled that it was the Popular Party that introduced the remand permanent prison in the Penal Code in 2015, but the opposition has since tried to throw it back.
From the Popular Party and in all the territories we defend its maintenance because society now has, with this figure, a better instrument for the defense of the rights and freedoms of citizens, to respond to new forms of crime and protect better to the most vulnerable.
