More than 500 triathletes have gathered this morning in Águilas to participate in the XXIV Duathlon Carnival of Eagles that opened the Regional Duathlon and Minor League and, in addition, was the first qualifying race for the Duathlon Spain Championship.
David Castro, of the EQTR Rodacal Beyem, was the winner of the men's event in a tight finish in which he achieved victory in the last meters, marking a time of 54 minutes and 35 seconds.
Just 5 seconds, came Darío Chitti, from the University of Alicante (54:40) who has not been able to hold the final arreón of the triathlete of the Roda, conforming with the second position.
The third place on the podium was occupied by Andrés Cendan, from the Cidade de Lugo Fluvial (54:44).
Pedro Antonio Lopez de Haro, of CT Aguilas Primaflor, has been the best Murcian of the elite competition, getting the seventh place of the fifteen that were disputed for the qualifier of the Duathlon National, marking a time of 54 minutes and 52 seconds.
As for the female elite, Cecilia Santamaría, of the Cidade de Lugo Fluvial, has been the fastest of a competition that, as in the boys, has decided in the last 2,500 meters of running, where she has managed to escape reaching goal alone with a time of 1 hour, 4 minutes and 55 seconds.
After her, and doing the same time of 1 hour, 5 minutes and 10 seconds, Sara Guerrero arrived, from the AD Náutico de Narón, and Inés Santiago, from the Ferrol Triathlon.
Four Murcia have managed to qualify for the Spanish Duathlon Championship to be among the first fifteen of the elite competition.
Laura Durán (1:06:57), from Saltoki Trikideak, who came in sixth position;
María López de Haro (1:07:25), from CT Águilas Primaflor, in tenth position;
Marina Martínez (1:07:30), of the Diablillos de Rivas, in eleventh position;
and Soledad Martínez (1:10:28), from CT Archena Ibercombus, at number fifteen.
In addition to the elite competition, it was competed in Age Groups where Arturo Lucas, from Bitec Trimpulso, with a time of 59 minutes and 35 seconds, and Irene Lucas, from CT Archena Ibercombus, with a time of 1 hour, 12 minutes and 21 seconds, they rose with victory.
The men's podium was completed by Francisco Pedreño, from the Cartagena Triathlon Club (59:42), and Emilio Pérez, from the Guerrita Sewer Triathlon (59:46).
As for the women's podium, the triathletes of the CT Archena Ibercombus, Sonia Gómez (1:12:54) and Andrea Marco (1:13:14), completed the podium with their teammate.
The Regional League of Minors also began today.
In the Cadet category, Jesús Montoya, Alberto Sánchez and Damián García, were the best men, while Andrea Durán, Laura Salas and Laura Arredondo, dominated the women's category.
In Infantil, Daniel López, Pablo León and Francisco Javier Pelegrín, formed the male podium while the female was established by Isabel Mª Navarro, Nieves Navarro and Marta Gil.
The category Alevín was marked by the podium of Alejandro López, Lope Valero and Sandro Alcaraz, and the female was formed by Eva Mª Sánchez, Ascensión Agudo and Julia Marín.
The next appointment of the regional calendar will be in Torre Pacheco on February 10 with a new day of the Regional League both absolute and Minors.
