With the series and television programs as a backdrop, last Saturday the aquiline sports hall dressed up as a party to host the Gala of Change of Powers that brought together about two thousand attendees.
The Official Ballet of the Federation of Peñas de Carnaval was in charge of starting a show that is the kick-off of the most emblematic festivals of the town.
After the dance, always spectacular of the ballet directed by Antonio Molina, it was the turn of the president of the Federation of Peñas, José Alonso, who remembered the proximity of the elections while making a tour of the twelve years he has been in charge of. the Federation.
The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, who followed once again reiterated "the effort of all the carnivals that year after year do an enormous job to achieve a carnival that we all feel proud of".
Once the speeches were over, the children's change of powers began, in which Teresa Méndez, Mussona;
Violeta Carrasco, Doña Cuaresma;
Jesús Pelegrín, Don Carnal;
and Yoana Gómez, Musa, received "power" from their predecessors in office.
After the protagonism of the youngest, it was time for the Federation of Peñas to deliver the Golden Masks;
recognitions that this year have fallen to Sebastián Pelegrín and Murga Los ciegos, ciegos perdíos, as well as the Golden Conch that was given to the Carnival of the Night.
There was also time to recognize the work of three important aquiline clubs: World Fantasy, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary, and Ipanema and El Equipo B for their twenty-five years participating in the Carnival.
The last block of the night was starred by adult characters who after their performances became protagonists of Carnival 2018. Thus, after a spectacular gala, José Antonio Patrón became Mussona, Paqui Díaz in Doña Cuaresma, Pedro Campos in Don Carnal and Cassandra Alcaráz in Musa.
