Nearly 200,000 people, according to estimates, gathered last Saturday in Águilas to live one of the most anticipated events of the festive calendar: the traditional Battle between Don Carnal and Doña Cuaresma, the spectacular arrival of the Muse in the Plaza de España and the proclamation of the television Ana Morgade.
As usual, the acts began in the Plenary Hall of the City of Águilas, where they were delivered, in the presence of the mayor of the town, Mari Carmen Moreno;
the mayor of Carnival, Cristóbal Casado;
and the president of the Federation of Peñas, José Alonso, the golden eagles to José Emilio Martínez, Grand Master of the Cuerva;
Canal Sur, entity on which this year the Gold Conch has fallen;
as well as Ana Morgade, pre-announcer of the Carnival.
Minutes later the popular Glorieta de Águilas became the stage for the Battle between Don Carnal and Doña Cuaresma, performed this year masterfully by Pedro Campos and Paqui Diaz.
After the shell war, the members of the Official Carnival Ballet took the stage in anticipation of the spectacular appearance on the balcony of the Cassandra Alcaráz City Hall, Musa del Carnaval and inspiration of all carnival fans.
After his emotional proclamation Eagles became a real madness to receive the announcer of the Festival of International Tourist Interest.
Ana Morgade, disguised as a sailor with anchovy included, managed to win the applause of all attendees from the first minutes of a pregón full of humor.
