The mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, and the municipal archaeologist, Juan de Dios Hernández, have held a meeting with members of Global Digital Heritage of Florida (USA);
a non-profit organization that is developing a project to digitize the cultural heritage in different monuments of the Region, including the Torre de Cope.
For nearly a month, a large number of images have been collected and will now be processed using the most modern digitization techniques, obtaining in this way an exact copy of the heritage, something that is of great value to researchers.
After the meeting, the municipal archaeologist said that "in November there will be a second digitization campaign in which work on the machine gun nest of Tébar, given the importance that in recent times is acquiring the heritage linked to the Spanish Civil War Also, from Global Digital Heritage have expressed their intention to expand, in this second phase, the number of digitized monuments in the town so it is very possible that it will also act in Castillo de Tebar and the Embarcadero de El Hornillo.
