Under the slogan "Stop the world to embrace the earth" presented yesterday the program of activities prepared by the Department of Equality on the occasion of the celebration on 8 March, International Women's Day.
The mayor of the area, Isabel Torrente, stressed that the program of events, which has the support of the Councils of Celebration and Culture, will start next Saturday, the 3rd and will continue until March 21.
Among the proposed activities, the round table "Why women stop?"
which will take place on Saturday at 6 pm at the Casa de Cultura.
On March 7 will be inaugurated the exhibition "To open heart" of the sculptor Paz Die Dean;
an exhibition for which guided visits of associations and schoolchildren are planned, which will jointly carry out the collective work "One more step".
On the 8th, the central day of the program, the performance of the batukada will take place at 11.30 am;
at 12 o'clock the act The power of words: Let's sing to create a better world, in charge of the women of the reading-writing workshop;
At 12:30 the performance of the Beat in Equality will take place and at 12.45 the institutional manifesto will be read.
Acts, all of them, that will take place in the Plaza de España.
In the afternoon, at 9:00 pm, the theatrical show Mi lucha by Antonia San Juan will be held in the Auditorium.
On Friday 16, the House of Culture, will host the presentation of the poems "The hug of the lady" by Dolores Ibarra while Saturday 17 will be the singer Bebe the protagonist with the presentation of his album "Cambio de piel" in the Auditor.
The celebration of the 8th Poetry and Art Festival "Grito de Mujer" is scheduled for Tuesday the 20th.
The program of events will be closed by the Association of Housewives, Consumers and Users, in charge of organizing the second edition of the Women's Day Awards.
The event will take place at El Tiburón restaurant during a meal open to the public upon registration and reservation (18 euros).
