The Municipal Socialist Group will submit a motion to the Ordinary Plenary Session in March urging the Government of Spain to maintain the public sector and not re-concession the AP-7, as well as to reduce the AP-7's tariffs to the legal minimum allowed.
The socialist mayor Tomás Consentino, signatory of the same, said that after the recent announcement of rescue of the toll road on its stretch Cartagena-Vera, which from April 1 will pass into state hands, it is time to bet on a new public management model.
"Without entering into assessments about the ruinous business that this highway has meant, the PSOE believes that it is time for it to remain in the public sector and not be re-concessioned.We also believe that since it has been rescued with money of all the taxpayers, the fair thing is that the tariff of the same is reduced to the legal minimum, especially if we take into account the cost of the same in its Murcian section almost doubles that of Almeria ".
