The I Day of Cleaning of the Coast, organized by the Department of Environment of the Spanish Red Cross in Águilas, has removed from the vicinity of the Tower of Cope, the Ensenada de la Fuente and the area between the beaches of El Alemán and El Sombrerico about 250 kilos of waste of all kinds.
Volunteers from the Local Assemblies of the Red Cross of Águilas and Santomera, who have been joined by citizens concerned about the state of the coast of the aquiline municipality have participated this weekend in the I Day of Cleaning of the Coast
A task that was not assumed easy and that before the strong wind that has been unleashed in the aquiline coast has made difficult, and much, the work of the participants.
However, convinced of the need to achieve their goal of improving the environment of the area that has some of the last virgin beaches of our Community, they have not hesitated to wear neoprene suits and booties to work in the rocky areas of the beaches and even remove protective tubes of cables with about 3 meters in length and almost 100 kilos of weight embedded in the rocks by storms.
Glass, plastic, wood and even tar plates have been deposited in nearby containers after finishing the cleaning day that is expected to be repeated in upcoming dates at beaches and nearby areas.
