"We do not understand that our tourist icon par excellence can not be visited by people with reduced mobility"
The most important tourist stronghold of Águilas: the "Castillo de San Juan de las Águilas", will not be able to be visited by a significant number of people due to the fact that the lift stops again.
This lift saves the final part of the climb to the castle, a section with stairs that prevents access to elderly people, people with disabilities or health problems and, of course, their families and companions.
Since its installation, the elevator has been presenting problems resulting in a standstill for some time, which is why it is supposed to be a mechanical breakdown.
From Ciudadanos we do not understand that our tourist icon par excellence can not be visited by people with reduced mobility, much less with Holy Week around the corner, that this service is still waiting for a solution.
Therefore Citizens will ask the City Council to urgently start this essential service and we do not have to regret the poor image that our visitors will take when they try to access the castle.
In fact, on specialized Internet pages there are comments from users alluded to the fact of finding the elevator damaged already in the month of August.
Being our "Castle" one of our tourist emblems, Águilas can not afford to lose visitors for this reason.
If the elevator continues to give problems, we will propose a Motion to the Plenary to find a definitive solution to it.
Of course, if the current Government Team does not seek that solution, we will pick up this important issue in our electoral program: "It is inadmissible that our main tourist attraction can not be visited by that group of people."
