"We are convinced of the need to develop a plan to achieve a common goal for all: the full and effective integration of people with disabilities, we know that it will be a challenge for all, but those of us who think and believe that we are all the same, regardless of the personal situation of each one, we are willing to work to achieve that full equality ".
With these words began, on behalf of the mayor of Águilas, Mari Carmen Moreno, the meeting to present the draft of the 1st Inclusion Plan for Persons with Disabilities of Águilas;
a project in which the Águilas City Council, in collaboration with the Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities (CERMI), the National Organization of the Blind (ONCE) and the different associations and institutions of the town's social health area, is working.
The objective, according to the first mayor pointed out in the course of this meeting, which was also attended by the mayor of Social Services, Rosalía Casado, is to have a document "agreed, which is why we consider it fundamental that this draft we present is enriched with the contributions of all the associations and institutions of the town that already work in this field ".
This I Plan, which is intended to be valid for four years, is based on three fundamental elements: the development of coordinated and cross-cutting actions aimed at achieving full inclusion;
the analysis of reality through the collection of information;
and an operational part that includes specific objectives and actions.
It should be noted that the actions will be specified in annual action programs that will be monitored by the Municipal Council for Disability, a sector participation body that will facilitate the participation of people with disabilities and their families in the public affairs of the municipality.
