A day after the storm that hit the city yesterday Eagles began to regain normal (18/08/2010)

The mayor of Eagle today met with local representatives of trade, industry, hoteliers and farmers, and will tomorrow with the Government Delegate in Murcia.

The city of Eagle has reported, a day after the intense storm that hit the city yesterday, in which it arrived to pick up more than 80 liters per square meter, the municipality has begun today to regain normalcy.

All day yesterday, about five hundred troops worked on the special device was activated because of the heavy downpour that struck the town and caused many damages.

The tasks of drainage systems in garages, basements and shop, concluded late in the afternoon yesterday, but had to wait until after two in the morning so that, under the supervision of the mayor of Eagle, Juan Ramirez, the Military Unit Emergency (HEU), in collaboration with Local Police and Civil Protection, completed the work of a revival of the vehicles that were semi-submerged in the sea after being swept away by the strong current.

A total of five cars were rescued in the waters of the beach of "Las Delicias" and five of their surroundings, where the promenade ends of the "Snakes."

On the other hand, report that, this morning recovered the only vehicle that was still in the mouth of the ravine of El Charco.

Wednesday, from 9:30 pm, a boat equipped with members of Underwater Activities Panel of the Guardia Civil (GEAS) and the Municipal Emergency Service has conducted several sweeps in the waters of the beach of "Las Delicias", helped by probes, with the aim of detecting the presence of more cars into the sea, but the search has been positive.

Civil Protection is expected to resume work tomorrow.

Also of note, the City of Eagle has established a comprehensive cleanup operation for these days, which is handling the washdown of the streets and squares that were flooded by the mud, as well as the removal of the waste carried by the power water.

The restore normalcy in the two main beaches affected by the rain is another priority of the consistory aquiline, so that, in coordination with the Coastal Authority, have already begun work cleaned up.

These beaches are expected to be fully operational for the weekend.

On the other hand, the mayor of Eagle, Juan Ramirez, today held a working meeting with representatives of agricultural and business sector of the city, in order to assess the extensive damage.

At the meeting were present presidents of the associations: Hosteáguilas, Vicente Robles, Merchants and Industrialists, Juan Manuel Zaragoza and ASAJA, José Martínez.

Finally, report is scheduled for tomorrow Thursday, August 19, the mayor of Eagle, Juan Ramírez Soto and the government delegate in Murcia, Rafael González Tovar, hold a meeting in the town.
